Appointments

The surgery operates a telephone triage system for GP and health care professional appointments.
This involves logging a call with our reception team or placing an online request for medical assistance.

All requests are assessed by a GP and triaged (assigned) to the most appropriate healthcare provider.  When logging a request (either online or by calling us) you will need to provide a contact number and a brief description of your problem.  This information helps the triage doctor prioritise calls and allocate to the appropriate clinician; it also helps the chosen clinician ensure that it is responded to within a suitable timeframe.

In some instances the triage doctor may ask a receptionist to guide patients to a more suitable service (e.g. the podiatry service or a local pharmacist) in order to enable maximum access to the services at the surgery.

If you request an appointment your triage appointment will be arranged by a member of staff for a date and time fitting the reasoning for the point of contact. This may be same day or can be an appointed date anywhere from 7 to 21 days from the date of the initial request for triage.

A limited number of call back appointments can also be requested for the next day via Engage Consult.  These are triaged in the same manner as all telephone calls.
Emergencies
If you are confronted with a serious problem such as severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath or severe bleeding, please do not hesitate to either go to A&E or dial 999 and request an ambulance.
Ill Children (Under 16 years old)
Following telephone triage, children under 16 years with an acute medical problem will be offered a same-day consultation.
If you are attending the surgery with a child who is acutely unwell we will endeavour to see them straight away where possible.  Please make the Reception Team aware that your child is acutely unwell.
House Calls / Visits
All house call requests should be made before 11am
House calls are for patients who are terminally ill or truly housebound because of illness or disability.
All patients requesting house calls will be telephoned back by a GP.  Transport difficulties and other inconveniences are not acceptable reasons for requesting house calls.
